Ireland has adopted a GM Free policy. Peru has banned GM seeds till 2014. The Swedish govt claims its animal feed is GM-free. Mexico isn’t happy with the genetic maize. When will India be GE free, Mr. Minister?

Why ? When we have our own heritage seed/crops/fruits evolved over generations and suits our soil/wheather conditions and environment, why toy with GM seeds, which is proven worldwide of its ramifications on the environment. All this Hocus Pocus of increased food crops/grains/fruits for the starving millions and pest resistance is a game played by the multinationals to sell their produce and benefits the corrupt short sighted politicians. Peoples representatives (Politicians) have no right to sell the traditional farmers proven crop technology handed over generations. with the introduction GM food crop, he is only an agent/worker for the greedy multinanationals peddling GM seeds. He has no role to play and forced to buy the basic seed and its additives from them to grow. Our Heritage seeds have a capacity to reproduce, can withstand the vagaries of nature and in the worst scenario be it floods or drought conditions at least 50% of the crop survives and the farmer does not starve and the seeds do not perish, they are good for another season to reproduce. the farmer need not depend on these unethical GM seedl producers. The farmers who fell for the bounty/increased crop per acre, have realised that the land which was fertile earlier, now is barren and poisoned bereft of the friendly unseen micro-organism and the visible earthworms,Bees, Birds et al…. which kept the ecosystem of the sorroundings intact have now dissapeared. With increased pests with no naturals predators the farmer is forced to buy poisons from the GM multinationals and further pollute the already polluted soil and nourish the poisonous GM seeds. The politicians have no right to play with the lives of the innocent and unsuspecting populance for petty gains from the GM seed manufacturers. If it is true a Democracy please heed to the evolved minds and Ban the GM sseds from contaminating our sacred land, which is bestowed with all year round favourable wheather conditions for the myriad flora and fauna of India !!

Please take immediate action as soon as possible.I being an indian i dont want them to suffer from diseases.These days we find new disease that even doctors are unable to name the disease. Take proper quality measures on food policy.So please see that it doesnt happens in the near future.

It would be nice if the post included links to reports/articles or any other sources that indicate
that such a meeting where such a decision might be taken is indeed going take place. This would make it
easier for people who’d like to verify facts before they dash out faxes to ministers, and make it more likely
that they do so.

in case u guys dont know !! d rice we eat is a gm food actually !! n we have been eatin it since last few centuries !! gm tech is not dat much published !! but its not at all bad !! there are a lot a hell lot of misconception about it !! there is a lot difference between hibreed n gm food!! hibreed = bad, unlike gm food !!

I have been various reviews about gm foods. I cannot make out if they are safe or not ! There seems to be only
two or three scientific studies on the adverse effects… and they are at best critical but not conclusive.
Are they good or bad ?
Mr.Minister think of the generations to come,including that of yours. Do some thing to be remembered with respect. Keep politics aside & let the oerall benefit to the society be top priority.

Can we say no to our growing population ? Because that is the reason we need GM foods. We Indians dont like to solve problems …. we like to oppose any solutions, because of the demerits of that solution. Well guys every solution has some merits and some demerits.
