Tell your friends to contact Jairam Ramesh

Genetically Modified Brinjals could be approved for commercial use in less than 24 hours unless we put enough pressure on the government.

  2. Ravindra Rao says:

All of us need to be aware of the hazards of eating Genetically Modified foods. And the Government should realize that its primary responsibility is to protect the interests of the people. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be happening!

  3. Sivadas says:

I wonder whether our efforts will yeild desired result when politics weigh above welfare of the people !!
But understand that the honourable minister is known as a no nonsense man, hence some hope.

  4. Hon. Minister Shri Jairam Ramesh,
I have gone through the reports on India TV , and fully aware of prepartion methods of this genetic food and regarding the harms of this genetic food. Before you take any decision and play with the life of the citizens of your country, you are requested to see all those Media reports and consult the media.By giving permission, certainly you will be remembered the person who invited cancer in India .
our’ a poor nation. We cannot even provide the medical facilities to our people and moreover invitation the dread est deceases in our nation. Think twice before you allow.
    Regards.
    Ajmer Singh Randhawa.

  6. Sonia Kundu says:

Much of the philosophy of Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine reflect the belief that the life and activity of individual human beings have an intimate relationship with the environment on all levels.

Every living thing which we eat has a ‘life force’ – which is where we get our energy. GM foods contain none of this life force and this is why they lead to an increase of disease – diseases such as cancer. By introducing such foods onto Indian soil, you will expose the Indian population to greater risk of disease. India is already unable to financially take care of its sick.

You are also potentially wiping out the poor farmers’ chance to provide an income for themselves and their families. GM seeds are made to NOT reproduce. Therefore seeds collected from last years harvest are useless. The farmers are forced to borrow money from the bank to buy more seeds. The money which they makes is never enough to repay and buy even more seeds for the following year. Thus they are entrenched in an ever widening pit of debt. The national heritage seeds currently grown in India can be wiped out by more virulent strains of GM seed. Once you introduce them, there is no going back. Without it’s own original seeds which are able to produce a harvest year after year, India will always be at the mercy of the GM corporations.

However, as you are a reasonable and intelligent man, I am sure you will not allow this to happen.

  7. Richard turner says:

I implore you please do not follow the path of profit and progress at any cost … the cost may well be unleashing disaster for future generations. The science of GM is poorly understood and the effects of introducing man made DNA strains we can only speculate upon because we DO NOT KNOW. What we do know is that giant companies who have an agenda for profit and a terrible track record for creating previous health disasters are behind pushing this technology on mass populations.

  8. Radhika Larsen says:

    Attn Jairam Ramesh…
Yes please pay attention to this issue. You are a well read man, so must have read the reports on Cancer Train which carries hundreds of cancer patients from Punjab to Rajasthan. These are all victims of BT Cotton. GE products are dangerous, cause tumours, cancers and mental retardation.

Its not just about you being a benevolent minister and listening to people. Think about your grandchildren who are going to be brought up on these artifical food that will cause cancer, brain damage and a completely mind controlled society. And being a Hindu, i am sure you believe in life after…so imagine when you come back in a new body, you would yourself be the victim of your actions. Do not be short sighted. You wouldn’t be a minister, or in power, or rich for ever, not necessarily in your next lives. So think of your own self and protect this planet and India from such dangerous future. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE PUT A STOP TO THIS.

  9. priya vikram singh says:

I dont think we need to have any GM fruit or vegetable. The wonderful thing about India is that the fruit and vegetable taste good because they are still more natural than other countries. In the US everything tastes the same and it is obviously not good for us either.

So why should we compromise good health for anything. We should feel pride in our own identity and not have to ape the west on every matter – learn the good not the bad.

  10. susilarani kambhampati says:

please leave our food alone.our lives are contaminated as is. please leave the eggplant as nature has given us for the future generations.

  11. m.s.khaleel says:

The approval of GM brinjal may have other strings attached. One, the company involved is Monsanto known World wide for its propagation of GM seeds and other crop enhancing products and may be the Maharashtra company was or is involved because we have the food minister from Maharashtra who can and also has enough power to get things through. It was simple for the approval and I feel no lobbying was required. It is a matter for which a serious thought should be given before a precedent is set.
My hope is that our efforts through such Non Governamental Organisation (NGO’s) will carry weight and the issue will be solved before end up with more GM crops.

  12. lkha says:

Call for a Bt. Brinjal feast to test the courage of the so called hero’s of this creation the Einstein of this idea and his families, the Reasearcher and their families, the fundraisers for the project and their families, the govt’s who approved and their families, the commission agents who are sponsoring this disaster and thieir families, the health specialits and their families, the cooks who are going to write great receipies on this products and their families. Let the feast begin and end with them because all of them are not UFO’s they are just another human being on this planet. Where will they go !! Do they have plans to go to Mars or Venus or Pluto. They will live like the rest of the world and will die like the rest of the world. NO GOD NO MAN NO MONEY WILL BE ABLE TO HELP AND CURE THESE MONSTOR CREATORS, THEIR DEEDS WHICH IS AGAINST THE WILL OF THE UNIVERSE AND NATURE. IF MAN DID NOT LEARN AT HOME HE WILL LEARN IN HIS BODY AND BREATH.

  14. Kamal Bhatia says:

    Mr. Jairam,
This can be dangeros for the future generation. I dont know why we need to produce such food items, arent we capable & knowledgebal enough to produce eatables the hygienic way. I mean

  15. BHASKAR SHARMA says:

  16. Suma says:

    To Whomsoever concerned

Its time we became courageous and more community oriented. There is a compulsory need for ethical behaviour and conduct in decision making, especially when the country has elected people to lead. Please do not allow genetically modified food into the country because the impact is horrendous in the long run and irreversible.
The wealth of the nation depends on the quality of its citizens and please make sure that basic needs such as health and medical needs are not compromised !

Dear Hon’ble Minister Mr. Jairam Ramesh ,

Our motherland having much fertile than we need. All of the food and poverty problems are artificial only. And that problems are luggaged on our mind.

Please think we cannot drop a little thing without gravity.Cannot breath or without the air. Nothing we can do without nature. The GM is should be carried by Nature only.See,we are not the supreame of the nature but part of nature. The part should not against to the whole.

The GM plants also not the good invention by the original good scientists and who have not any idea to serve to mankind.Actually they are NOT scientists and they are the labours with scientific tool of the big corporate companies.

Then how can YOU THE MINISTER OF THE REPUBLIC UNION OF INDIA agree the GMPs to INDIA,you are not the servent of that corporates.

Please be the great INDIAN who solves the problems in indigenious way.The GMPs are not the solution to our problems but AGAINST INDIAN . AS INDIAN from south, where the mankinds start to exit in the world, you NEVER agree with the GMPs on any pressure,WE HOPE.
