I was born and brought up in Jamshedpur and my father was a TCIL employee. I was really fortunate to be born and brought up in a place like Jamshedpur where the TATA’s have their deep roots. TATA is one word that bring a sense of trust in our mind. I still remember people asking for TATA cement even after they sold it to , that is the trust people have in you.
Singur is one more incident where we can see the calm, cool yet the charismatic persinality of Mr. Ratan Tata. He handled the situation and refused to construct the factory their, fearing the security of his workers in the politically unbalanced situation.
There are so many thing that you can tell about the TATA’s, their virtue and truthfulness is just a few.
So, Mr Ratan Tata, I urge you to look into the situation more closely, as we the people are not saying it without any reason, there must be something that you might be missing.
Please help us keep our faith in the TATA’s intact.

    -Chris

Dear Mr. Ratan Tata ,I deepak chaudhry , Law student request you to be kind to this beiutiful nature & for ensuring the same a impotant contribution is required for protection of endangered Olive Ridley Turtles by stopping the destructive port in Dhamra from you. I know this will affect your monetry intrest but if nature is destroyed it can’t be regained but in case of money same is possible, I hope you will consider my request…

  7. S RAMAKRISHNAN says:

Dear Mr. ratan Tata, I understand that you have a big reputation to protect, but having built a
reputation of this size living in India, dont you think it is high time that you use your reputation
to protect what we hold dear. A small gesture on your part is going to protect something priceless
and a very important part of nature and that which India is famous for. From a person who has
given India some of the best in the past more than 5 decades, I believe a gesture that would
save the Oliver Ridley Turtles would go a long way in further strengthening that reputation in
the minds of all Indians. Thankyou.

  8. Sushma says:

    Dear Sir,

If you indeed have the control that can save the turtles and hence the ecology, please use it.
Lets leave a better world for the new generation.

    Sushma

  10. Nilesh says:

Dear sir, We understand u have invested in building port and expecting returns.
Thats why you are investing more to get through this construction and continue to do it until u think u can push these people. But if by any chance u face defeat u will loose everything. so i insist take a glory instead of pride and contribute to environment.

  11. supriya says:

Mr. Tata, if you were an olive ridley turtle, would you support the call to stop construction of your port?

  12. Bhuvana says:

    Dear Mr. Tata,

Please prove yourself to be worthy of the respect of your fellow-countrymen by demonstrating
your respect for the environment and Mother Nature. As the flag-bearer of Indian industry you
will be setting standards for others to follow. You must rise above petty economic gains
which are limited and temporary in nature and see the larger social and environmental
    perspective.
In short, please practice what you preach.

    Bhuvana

  13. serene says:

    Dear Sir,

As one of the leaders of industry in the country, I think it is imperative that you consider the future of the nation and this land that belongs to us. Surely ,the returns that you get from this port that you are building cannot be worth the permanent damage that is being inflicted on the environment. When we are born into such great wealth be it material or otherwise, it becomes our obligation to do right and give back at least as much as we receive. Why not see this as an opportunity to do just that? As a member of the generation that is inheriting all that is being left behind by our fathers , I feel it is my duty to remind you of your duty to us and the generations to come…Surely adding another feather to your cap and this time as a person taking on a green initiative can only add to the Tata name…

  14. Nagi says:

    Dear mr. Tata,

I am always proud of you for your contribution & Tata’s contibution to India & people of India.

I admire you for being a visionary for all Indians specially youngsters. I think you will listen to

people of this country & do evrything thats required to save our environment.

Hope you will prove you are a great environmentalist as well.

    Thanks for evrything you do,

    Nagi.

    Dear Mr. Tata

You have everybody’s respect as a business leader with principles & ethics.
You also have combined profitability with social responsibility.
Turtles in the general scheme of things may hold a very “nano” part of your attention.
But do you really want to be tagged as a person responsible for their slow extinction?

    Pls think & do act.
    Yours sincerely

  18. Nidhi says:

    Dear Mr. Tata,

The Tata name has always stood for integrity, honesty and progress. From a corporation such as yours we expect nothing but the best for the society. Please do not take away the right to life of an entire species of animals for the sake of economic progress. Humans need animals as much as they need progress as nature controls us all and also hangs on a delicate balance.

Please do not go ahead with the construction of the dam.

    Regards,
    Nidhi

  19. Dahlia Ghosh says:

What is the worth of being giant industrialists if we can’t even be worthy humans and protect an innocent, harmless species from massacre & complete destruction? Would you like it if some species superior to you, suddenly crashed into your territory which you had so painstakingly built, destroying your home, killing your family in front of your eyes — and you had no other option but to watch helplessly and eventually die? Please, let us be businessmen later and humans first. Just because we are genetically more advanced and just because those poor creatures are unable to voice their protests, doesnt mean we have the right to perform merciless acts of cruelty and push out a species from their place on this planet, which they have every right to occupy.

  20. Ajit Kumar says:

    Tata Uncle,

Turtles at Dhamra port are not disturbing your NANO project then why are you
disturbing them.Let Turtle live in there favaourable place, you choose another location.

  21. Aditya R Kapoor says:

    Dear Mr. Tata,
Your company holds a high esteem in India. Your company’s adds goes by the tag line “DESH KA NAMAK”. How can you go ahead with projects like “Dhamra Port”, which directly goes against our cultural ethos. LET’S LIVE AND LET LIVE

  22. Avi says:

Mr Tata, One day Your company did not exist and no one knew what Tata is or was, then your family’s great entrepreneurs helped build this fortune and gradually your empire grew. But you have had to ruin a lot of families and their businesses to do so. We managed to rebuild our settlement through hard work and one hundred percent commitment to our family. However we are humans, and our perseverance for struggle is unmatched and unheard of, but here we are talking about a less unfortunate species who are being pushed towards darkness everyday by a kilometer. Please have mercy on them, and do not push this any further, Our sentiments will rise and we will rise tp this challenge if you continue to ignore this any further. Damn the media that is siding with ruthless and unkind hearts, but remember you are in minority.

  23. Arun says:

I am not sure how will this be going to impact the race of the turtles. But i shall be honest that creating things which actually alters the nature, will be going to disastrous for mankind. Already we are facing the problems like global warming, scarcity of potable water, economi blues, reduced agri production, increasing consumption capacity for masses…. in turn it is sure that we will be going to suffer immensely. Instead let us take a step to create a green and healthy planet…..

    Regards

    Hello sir,
don’t become greedy. enough what you have earned. I don’t think you are doing some good
to country. As the decisions in you company’s say that you are concerned only for money.
already you are sucking blood of people in your company
now don’t kill other creators on the globe by your actions.
    pleae stop the activity

  25. Henry Tovar says:

God morning mr Tatas I just want to tell you that you should create very strong laws to protect and educate the people in your country so like that they can help to conservate the natural enviorment and the biodiversity specialy turtles belife me I am student of enviormental studies and I am realy concern about the lost of our living organims,
we must stop this problem before it becomes worse tha we ever imagen

  26. naureen says:

I would be deeply disappointed if the turtles vanish from the coast line during my next visit & it would be a TATA to your products

  27. Bhadresh says:

Please look towards the creator as to keep the pace in life

  28. When we take care of the animals and the birds, we are also investing in the world of our children and grand children. When we destroy nature we are also destroying their rightful inheritance

  29. B Rekha says:

    Dear Mr.Tata,

When we usurp the land of the animals in the name of progress to mankind, what kind of a world are we leaving by making a bonfire of planet earth in the name of good intentions ? Do you realize that if the animals had a wee bit of more intelligence, mankind would have long been extinct ? Is this how we take advantage of the innocent and defenceless creatures ?

  30. Shashank says:

    Dear Mr Tata,

As a titan of Indian industry you very well understand your responsibilities. No matter where, “survival of the fittest” will apply. Just like a king looks after his “praja” not out of pity, but responsibility, the onus lies on the likes of yourself.

Each Jaguar or Land Rover and each Tetley on the grocery stores that I see in this part of the world, I cannot but think of you - with pride.
You have the opportunity to make this legacy last…

    -Shashank (from Vancouver, Canada)

  31. Kandarp says:

    Dear Sir,

I believe you don’t need explanation to stop construction. I have strong belief about you. I am sure you are going to take an action about that.

    Thanking You,

  33. Angela says:

    Dear Mr Tata

Can you look into the mirror and be proud of the man you see? Is it a great feeling to be responsible for the extinction of these endangered turtles?

Show that you can take wise decisions and stop the construction of the port immediately!
Respect can be so much more than money will ever be.

    Best regards

  34. M.R.Kiran Prasad says:

    Respected Sir,
Completely saluting your efforts on uplifting mankind with your inspirational thoughts, i as a citizen of Mother Nature, kindly requests you to solve the RIDDLE of THE RIDLEY TURTLES, else your technological breakthroughs would make your esteemed organisation seem NANO.. Please reconsider your decision and give Nature the space it requires, ALL FOR THE SAKE OF MANKIND.

    Green Regards,
    Kiran Prasad

  35. Vivek says:

The Tata Group has always been known for its ethical standards and for giving back to the community. It is painful to see that despite understanding the huge impact of this port on an endangered species, there is still room left for discussion or negotiation. I would have presumed that you would undertake a study of the situation and immediately stop this construction until some solution can be found. You are an icon for the Indian youth, sir, please dont let us down.

  36. pramada nadha reddy says:

    Dear Sir,
I am not an intellectual as you are in any means and standards. But I am not able
to understand why you are not withholding this project which inturn is going to turnout to be
a disaster for a species which are already struggling for their survival and are listed in the
    endangered species.
We were thanking god after we came to know that some part of the Indian shores
was giving scope to an endangered spieces to win the struggle for their survival. And
suddenly this project was brought into the picture.
Lot of female ridleys wouldn’t be making it to the shores because of some
reasons like trawlers, ships, no. males try to mate with a female which may cause them
to drown and loose their life. With the port coming into picture please try to imagine sir
how much damage it is further going to cause.
Sir We request you to give a second thought about the continuation of the project.

  37. Dinesh Kurup says:

Greenpeace is a bunch of good guys on a mission. Please heed to their advice when they are still but imploring.

Dont know if you have heard of it but in the west there have already been instances of environmentalism going violent. Now this is what happens when peoples patience runs out. Dont create another Singur for yourself is my sincere advice.

  38. irfan says:

  39. Arabhi says:

    Mr.Tata,
U have gained the respect and trust of millions of people.Plz do nt lose it.Eventually, what do you expect to achieve by constructing this port against the wishes of all your supporters? Why be the cause of destruction of these last few olive ridley turtles on earth? That is not any achievement..just shows the selfish nature of many human minds.

In September 2008, after heightened protests and nearly 100,000 dedicated Greenpeace cyberactivists calling on TATA to relocate the port, the TATAs agreed to a dialogue with those opposing the Dhamra port. In the ensuing negotiations, TATA agreed 'in principle' to an independent assessment, yet it continues to build the port, and with every passing day, the turtles' future looks dimmer… That's why Greenpeace and other groups are calling on TATA to immediately halt construction and commission an independent assessment.
